Expectant mothers can choose between the maternity units at Worthing Hospital or St. Richard’s Hospital in Chichester for their antenatal care and will also be seen by the doctor during surgery hours.
The six week maternal/post natal baby check will be carried out by the doctor. The mother and baby will be contacted by the health visitor after day ten. The health visitor will continue to review the baby until age 5.
The doctor and practice nurse undertake child development checks and immunisations and will discuss any problems, e.g. sleeping, feeding and other child health worries. Parents can also seek advice from their health visitor.
Asthma care is offered by the practice nurse in conjunction with the doctor – please book an appointment with the practice nurse.
Diabetes care is offered by the practice nurse in conjunction with the doctor – please book an appointment with the practice nurse.
Family planning advice is provided by the doctor during normal surgery hours.
MIAMI provides additional pre-bookable and same day urgent appointments between 1.00pm – 6.00pm, Monday – Friday. If you are suffering with symptoms such as: Chest infection, sore throat, headache, fever, eye infection, rashes/skin irritations, urinary and bowel problems, to list but a few then you can be seen at the MIAMI clinic when your registered GP has no more on-the-day appointments left to offer you. MIAMI are now offering bookable Nurse appointments on Saturday mornings, at the moment this includes Cytology and dressings.
Minor surgery procedures are offered at the practice – please discuss this with the doctor.
Please make an appointment with the practice nurse at least six weeks prior to your holiday to ensure adequate cover. A charge will be made for certain immunisations and vaccinations which are not covered by the NHS. For information on current charges, please ask at reception.
It is advisable to plan immunisations at least 6 to 10 weeks before travelling as some require a course over a period of weeks. An appointment should be made with the practice nurse to plan your course of treatment.
An influenza vaccination is particularly recommended for patients over the age of 65 years and for patients with asthma, diabetes, heart, lung or kidney disease and residents of nursing and rest homes. We still have some flu Vaccinations available if you are eligible, please book an appointment.
Non NHS Examinations
The doctor is happy to carry out medicals, e.g. for insurance purposes, taxi medicals or driving licence renewal, by appointment outside of surgery hours. Please telephone the surgery for an appointment. When requesting this service, please advise the receptionist so that sufficient time for the appointment can be allowed. These services are chargable as they are a Non NHS Service. The fees are in line with those recommended by the British Medical Association.
