Appointments may be made by telephoning 01903 779924 or by calling in at Reception. Appointments with the doctor can also be booked via the internet. (Please ask us for a login id and password if you do not already have one). We aim to offer you an appointment with either a doctor or practice nurse within 1 week or the same day if the problem is really urgent. Please do not be offended if the Receptionist asks you the brief nature of your problem - this really isn't so they can be nosey, but merely to ensure that your appointment is booked with the correct person. This will ensure your time is not wasted and having to come back.
In the case of routine appointments, to enable us to offer you an appointment at a time that suits you, these may be made several weeks in advance (maximum three months).
The surgery is run on the basis of ten minute appointments and the doctor or nurse will do their best to ensure all your questions are answered during that time. If you have more than one problem you wish to discuss please tell the doctor or nurse at the start of your appointment. As a general rule, doctors can only deal effectively with one or two problems in ten minutes. If you have more than one or two concerns to discuss, or if your problem is of a complex nature, the doctor may suggest you make another appointment on another day to discuss any further concerns. In order to avoid your consultation with the doctor being hurried if you do have more than one problem, you may wish to consider asking for a longer appointment when making the booking.
To help our surgeries to run smoothly we ask that:-
- You try to be punctual for your appointment.
- Only ask for an emergency appointment when the problem is really urgent.
- If you are unable to keep an appointment, that you inform us as soon as possible so the appointment can be offered to someone else.
- You are patient if surgeries are running late - this may be due to patients before you needing extra time with the doctor or nurse.
Appointments with the GP, practice nurse and Phlebotomist can be made at various times from 8.00 am to 6.30 pm Tuesday to Friday and from 07.30 am to 19.00 pm on a Monday when the Practice offers “Extended Access” appointments. These amount to an additional six appointments per week of ten minutes duration. These appointments are primarily designed for patients who have difficulty attending the Practice during normal opening hours e.g. because of work commitments.
Please note that currently due to high demand our Phlebotomy clinics are running early mornings in order to fit everyone in.
